What is the difference between playing a Blue Ray disc and play Blue Ray format file on the computer?

I am curious about this. Someone gave me a flash drive with a blue ray movie on it. Can I play this on my PC? What is the difference of playing in front of a blue ray in a disk drive (blue ray player) and just playing the file on my computer? I have my computer connected to a 1080p HD TV via HDMI, if that helps. Thank you.

well technically its the same way it was started. if blue ray dvd files and it is true in the size of the thing would be massive. your chances are of a format mkv file which is the standard way to rip and create a single file. mkv problem is a pain in the ass unless you have a good pc. I am just using KM player or player VLC to view the files. which are set for mkv files. it is best to create a divx avi devede and burn to a DVD dual layer, youll be fully quality in this way only in size 7gb believe it or not. That what I do.
